Destiny and Esmeralda join TKL

MBI PhD student Esmeralda Mendoza joins TKL for a Competitive Edge rotation during the summer. Undergraduate lab assistant Destiny Garcia also joins. Welcome!

Esmeralda is a Molecular Biology PhD student in the Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Structural Biology home area. She completed her B.S. in Biological Sciences, Microbiology conc., and a minor in Chemistry at San José State University. Esmeralda looks forward to exploring her research interest in molecular mechanisms within pathogens. She enjoys taking national park road trips, visiting new coffee shops, and baking in her free time.

Destiny Garcia is an undergraduate student majoring in Public Affairs at UC Los Angeles. She is a proud sister of Lambda Theta Nu Sorority Inc. She believes in helping her community which is why she wants to pursue a career as an immigration paralegal. In her free time, she loves to bake, go to the gym or journal while listening to music. She also enjoys spending quality time with her friends. She is excited to be a part of the team and bring new organizational skills that will allow the lab to flow more smoothly.
